Who is Liam Keane?

So, now that you’re at liamkeane.com you might be wondering “who is this?” Well, I’m a nineteen year old Californian. I grew up in the Santa Ynez Valley and I am currently a student at UC Santa Barbara. Anyway, this is a site I use as an online notebook to write about whatever.

“What’s in a name? That which we call a rose / By any other name would smell as sweet”

Every once in a while I do a search on Google for the name “Liam Keane”. This site is usually at the top but there are (as of 12/06) 705 results for the exact phrase “liam keane”. A lot of these results are not about me, but about other people who I share my name with. Interestingly, many of the results are about a man, three years older than me, from Limerick, Ireland who was acquitted in a controversial August 2001 trial after being accused of murder. After seeing numerous documents discussing my infamous namesake, some rather rough in subject, I began to wonder how many other namesakes I might have and what they where known for.

So, using Google to perform an exact phrase search as well as other wildcard searches, I found a few additional references to those using this name. It appears there are at least 33 Liam Keanes and these are just the ones referenced on the internet; there are likely many more not online. Here are the results:

    Hello!

Interesting site. I’m surprised there are so many of them!

I am the grandfather of the above Liam Leonard Keane (who is only 2 years old). A correction is in order. When that old pedigree was posted Y-DNA results had not yet been obtained. Traditional pedigrees would say that he and I are descended from the 5th entury King Niall Niogiallach (”of The Nine Hostages”). Y-DNA seems to disagree and it appears that at least the chiefly line is of Dalcassian origin, descended from the tribal group of High King Brian ‘Boru’. Prior to about 1000 AD the traditional pedigrees are not accurate - probably altered for political reasons.

Anyone bearing the KEANE name who would be interested in joining my Y-DNA Project please feel free to contact me. I’ll opt not to divulge the residence of the little guy

    Cheers,
    The O’Cahan

    Hi,
We’re in Donegal and my son Liam will be 7 in February and, like you, has an interest in making short films :) Take a look at his Super Hero movie, “Kid Scorpion” at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dVjXzUI788g

Well done with your film - nice to see that creativity is alive and well in the amateur film industry!

    All the best!
