Peak Two

Carlyle has a well-written essay about our summer backpacking trip to Colorado over on his blog. He talks about personal satisfaction found in mountaineering through an anecdote of the ten-hour trek on Peak Two (elevation: 13,475 ft.).
Peak Two ascent

We were literally 200 meters into our hike and already there were a few stragglers. One scout was losing gear off his pack, one was without a headlamp, and a few were already tired. Boy Scout Troop 41 was up at 3:45am, and hiking by 4.     That was the best hike EVER.

    you need to go on the Sierra trip this summer.

    This was the best hike ever Oige. We miss you!!!! You showed yourself to be a true leader, a great mountaineer and great fiend to all, on this trip.

    Oige, you were remembered by so many last night, your love for the natural being and your incredible smile memorialized by all who knew you. As I look through these pictures, your mischievous smile shines through…we do miss you and always will!!!
